Summary

This eight meeting was special because it included a field trip. We organised a group visit to This Museum is (not) Obsolete on Thu 21 May 1-3pm as our last meet-up of the academic year. The museum kindly accommodated us as a group visit. The museum is located in Ramsgate, so this meant that we travelled by train (1.5h each way) departing from London St Pancras International.

The lab covered for the museum entrance ticket and a drink, but each lab member had to pay for the train ticket (with an estimated cost of £34-40£). We could bring our own lunch too, which we could have right before the visit.

The visit was a lot of fun. We had lunch on the beach, and had a wonderful time in the museum discovering obsolete but mostly working musical instruments, music computing gems, and beyond. Thanks Mitch for coordinating our visit and the guided tour!

This was the last meeting of the first edition. We will pause the meetings for the summer and will convene back in September (the second-to-the-last Thursday of the month).

Also, likely we will organise a special online summer edition or even writing retreat if there is interest or the need for feedback from the group for any forthcoming papers that are due before September (e.g. CHI2027).
